Hi, First of all Elaine, i have been meaning to say for ages how much i enjoy your blog and how useful it is, thanks for all the thought and obvious hard work that goes into it. I'm based in London, helped organise the first PMC Guild conference here this summer. I've been working with metal clay and polymer clay for about three years and absolutely love both. I'm mostly self taught but an avid course goer( Robert Dancik's week in Cornwall was the highlight of my year!) .

I'm at that stage- much more than a hobby but not quite a fully fledged business and the questions i'm asking myself are just the ones you're addressing- which is good. Being in the UK adds another dimension because as usual we are still pretty much in the stone age as far as online outlets, marketing etc. are concerned.

The other really challenging question is about positioning...consistant branding, being known for a certain style of work and knowing who your tatget market is. All good food for thought especially at 2.00am!

One thing's for sure, the creative sparks are always flying, it's just knowing sometimes what to do with the little buggers !!

On that note..TTFN

PS my website is not really up to date ( dont get me started) Newer work on flickr- link is http://tinyurl.com/2c4hdp
