Oh, well the closest thing in the US is the Certified Master Bench Jeweler Program by JA, Jewelers of America. Check into that. There are varying levels, you work your way through, take bench tests at each stage.

Or you could do a low residency MFA with a local teacher/MFA as your teacher.

If you want to learn a new technique without traveling, you could subscribe to Bench Media's web television channel. Let's see, let me find the link for that...

Here's a link to my post about it: <a href="/news/2007/10/28/bench-media-announces-bench-jewelers-television/" rel="nofollow">here</a>.

Yeah, I'm not really feeling the Olympics this time around either. I don't know if it's because of socio-political issues or what. And, I've watched gymnastics for so many years that I'm just tired of seeing what looks like the same old routines.

In any case, I'm working on further defining "my Olympics" right now. It is, for the most part, becoming a "master craftsman." But, I need to dig more into exactly what it means, what it means to me, how would I get there, etc. Researching all aspects of it at the moment because we don't have a certifying body that I'm aware of in the US. I think they do in the UK per James Miller...
