Giant Crochet Coral Reef
![]()
October is Chicago Artists Month here in Chicago, and there are lots of interesting happenings.
One of them is a large crochet coral reef. You can see the picture and read the article in the Chicago Reader, and see the real thing at the Chicago Cultural Center.

Your url for the Chicago Reader is broken. Would love to see a picture, but none of the links show one. Used to live in Chicago and miss all the great art happenings!
There is a man in Curacao who lives aside the ocean. His eyes are clear as the sea waters and, like the sea, he is strong-willed. his name is Bert Knubben.(64) He is on the beach of the BREEZES Resort and a craftsman of the exclusive “kings” black coral jewellery which he obstinately insist must be spelled black “koral”. A nice touch, since the initials are his own and on Curacao, he is similar with this semiprecious stone which he fastidiously works in his small shop, the KORALART gallery, in concert with his good-looking wife Fennie, on the palm beach of the Breezes Resort Hotel.
