Hi Elaine,
I am a fellow metal clay artist and teacher. I like reading your blog…lot’s of useful info.
I recently did a show and they required 40lb weights on each leg of the tent. I actually witnessed several takes taking off in the air because the vendor did not weigh it down.
We made our own weights out of pvc piping. We cut about 2 foot sections, screwed and for extra measure also glued one end on, added sand, and on the end cap, we used more glue and a hook. We then hang each pvc pipe from each corner and tie the pvc pipe on the ground to the leg. This works out really well. We noticed most of the other vendors had a similar system. I’ve had a friend borrow our tent and she’s able to setup the entire system on her own.
Thanks Marissa, for the compliment and the tip!
Elaine
