Review: Mark Montano’s Big Ass Book of Crafts
My apologies — with this book review I’m afraid this is no longer a G rated blog — but it’s a great book, so I couldn’t resist.
You may recognize the name Mark Montano from HGTV’s While You Were Out.
The projects are mostly home dec, but not all. There are some stationary making projects, a couple of jewelryish ones.
So far my daughter and I have made the stationary using soap bubbles — really! That was fun and produced surprisingly good results.
I mostly limit myself to jewelry making — metalsmithing, Precious Metal Clay — and I do felting and Print Gocco — in order to get good at jewelry making I’ve found I have to focus and not dabble in everything.
But sometimes it’s a good creativity boost to do something different, fun and no pressure.
I use Artist Trading Cards that way, and this book has lots of fun, easy, managable projects.
So whether your space needs some a decorating freshening up, or you need to get out of a creativity rut, try the Big Ass Book of Crafts.
